How to Place an Ice Screw

Find an indentation in the ice. Place the screw at your waist. Start the screw with the palm of your hand on top of the screw so you don't drop it.

Once you get a good bite, open the handle and twist it the rest of the way into the ice. Make sure to close the handle when completed.

Note: place the screw at 90 degrees to the ice or with the screw head titled slightly downward.
