Here is a recipe for my go-to daily breakfast mush, a great combo of fiber (what I consider the most important macronutrient for microbiome health) protein, complex carbs, vitamins, minerals and long lasting energy!
Kinda looks like pond scum slurry, but it is delicious and super nutrient packed.
I like the flavor of veggies over sweet fruits, but you can always make it more of a traditional smoothie with more juice, more frozen fruit, a banana or a couple dates to make it sweeter.
1/2 c frozen wild blueberries
3 c water
1/4 c hemp seeds
Big handful of combination of spinach, swiss chard, kale
1/4 c fresh orange
2 tsp fresh grated ginger
2 Tbsp sunflower or almond butter
1 Tbsp ground flax
1/2 tsp sea salt
Toppings:
1/4 c chia seeds
1/2 c Ezekiel Crunchy Sprouted cereal (or any granola or GF cereal you like)
In a Vitamix, blend all ingredients except for toppings. Pour in a liter mason jar, then for texture and substance add chia seeds and cereal. Stir well, let sit 10 minutes, then enjoy this packed porridge!
